Antonio, a native of Miami, has just finished his sophomore year at the New World School of the Arts. He began to play the bass at eleven, initially studying classical music, but a few years later he was introduced to jazz and began pursuing an interest in the music by teaching himself some "jazz technique". Upon entering NWSA, he joined two jazz combos and the jazz band at school, all of which have helped him develop his jazz "chops", while he continues to play classical music as well. Antonio is especially proud of participating with his high school jazz band in the Essentially Ellington Competition in New York. Upon returning home from the Workshop, he has made a pledge to mentor younger jazz players in his community, sharing the knowledge and experience he gains in Vail.
