Kyle has just finished his junior year at the Acalanes High School in Lafayette, California. A member of a musical family, his three sisters all play music and both of his parents are music teachers. While his primary instrument is trumpet, which he has been playing for over 7 years, he also plays the vibraphone. For the last two years, Kyle has been a member of the GRAMMY Jazz Ensemble, the Monterey Jazz Festival All-Star High Big Band, the San Francisco Jazz All-Star High School Ensemble and the IAJE/CMEA California All State Jazz Band. In 2002, he received the 1 st place Down Beat Student Award on the vibraphone and 3 rd place on the trumpet and in 2003 and 2004 he won Outstanding Soloist awards from Down Beat on the trumpet. He enjoys tennis and is on his school’s tennis team, as well as being the co-captain of the Science Bowl and a member of the Quiz Bowl teams at school.
