The Vail community is host to the largest Jazz Festival in the Rocky Mountains – the Vail Jazz Festival. Now in its 18th year, the Vail Jazz Festival has grown to include 40 shows over a 12 week period. Nestled in the heart of the Colorado Mountains, The Town of Vail offers not only breath taking views, a plethora of activities the finest restaurants and incredible culture and music. The Festival uses a variety of unique venues for its performances including the Jazz Tent at Solaris during the Vail Farmers Market, the Jazz Tent at Vail Square adjacent to the gondola and Arrabelle, Restaurant Kelly Liken for intimate jazz dinner and club atmosphere and the Grand Ballroom at the Vail Mountain Marriott Resort & Spa. The Vail Jazz Festival is produced by The Vail Jazz Foundation, a Colorado 501c3non-profit organization. Through jazz music, we enliven the spirit and enhance the being. We focus on young musicians and young audiences in our mission to perpetuate jazz music through performances and educational programs. |

 Jazz Goes to School takes the basics of jazz education into every 4th and 5th grade classroom in Eagle County. With over 1,100 students participating from the 16 elementary schools, The Vail Jazz Foundation is exposing a whole new group of youngsters to the origins and history of jazz as well as the elements of modern jazz bands.
Jazz Goes to School is formatted as a sequential series of four 45-minute lessons that are presented during the course of the school year. The curriculum combines musical performances with elementary discussions of the origin and history of jazz, an art form steeped in American history, geography and diversity.
Each lesson plan is different and uses up to 5 educators/musicians to demonstrate various instruments and musical styles. By blending these subjects in a lesson plan, the educators link various social studies subjects that students are exposed to in their regular curriculum to the history of jazz in a unique and stimulating manner. The program wraps up with an authentic jazz concert with the Jazz Goes to School Sextet presented at the magnificent Vilar Performing Arts Center.
