Vail SummerFest launches this Friday

This Friday, Vail SummerFest launches Vail’s incredible summer season of music, diverse events and activities! This free celebration of summer features Grammy Award winner Marcus Miller, and an afternoon packed with interactive activities for the whole family.
Favorite Vail Valley event providers will sell tickets and host raffles for GIVEAWAYS to a variety of exciting cultural events (including Vail Jazz, Bravo! Vail, and Vail International Dance Festival). The evening will come alive with the diverse array of music, arts and culture filling the beautiful summer night.
Electrifying bass player Marcus Miller comes to Vail June 24th to heat up Vail’s newest event, Vail SummerFest! Widely acclaimed as the “Renaissance Man”, this Grammy winning artist/composer/producer brings an array of contemporary sounds in Jazz, Pop/Rock/R&B, and Fusion to Vail SummerFest for a rare, free concert! (open to the public)
With over 19 solo albums in contrasting styles, Marcus Miller has also served as a musical producer for artists such as Miles Davis, Luther Vandross, Chaka Kahn and Wayne Shorter. Known for his creative and modern approach in the jazz industry, Miller is not afraid to cross boundaries, and connect with vibrant cultures.
Marcus Miller brings enthusiastic energy and life to the electric bass, in an extremely attractive way that both young and older audiences can appreciate and feel connected to today. Miller’s eccentric take on jazz appeals to all generations, and not just to the active jazz listener, but for fresh ears as well. Aside from touring internationally, Marcus has composed several major motion pictures including About Last Night, Obsessed, Head of State, and the TV Show Everybody Hates Chris, just to name a few. His dedication in performance, composition and arranging has also led him to humanitarian work with UNESCO promoting peace through international collaboration and communication. His latest album Afrodeezia released in 2015, served as inspiration from his work with the organization and the Slave Route Project. The album captures musical styles and rhythms of African slaves that have migrated to the America’s and Caribbean.
Don’t miss this modern music innovator heat up Vail SummerFest in Vail for a one free performance only on June 24th at 6:30 pm! Activities get underway that day at 4pm with music by Tony Gulizia and second act by flute phenom Nelson Rangell. Families and attendees can enjoy food and drink and vendors including all summer arts organizations, including information about summer activities and events. Bouncy house and arts & crafts welcome children to the event.
