The uniquely talented saxophonist, vocalist, and composer Braxton Cook, a 2009 graduate of the Vail Jazz Workshop, has some advice for the 12 teenage students selected to participate in the 2003 Workshop that culminates in the Vail Jazz Party this Labor Day weekend.
It consists of “finding your own voice and honing that, and not necessarily striving for perfection but, instead, striving for intention.” That means, he adds, trying to “achieve what it is you intended to do, or whatever sound you’re trying to go for.”
