On July 9, Workshop Alumni Lucas Netto (saxophone 2023) and Jose Andre (piano 2023) will share the stage at Mr. Henry’s in Washington, D.C. The two rising artists first connected at the Vail Jazz Workshop and continue to nurture the musical partnership they formed there.

Reflecting on their time at the Workshop, Lucas shared, “We started such a beautiful friendship and musical chemistry during our time in Vail. The Vail Jazz Workshop is an experience I still hold close to my heart and cherish for the many lessons I learned and friends I made.” Looking ahead to the performance, he added, “Jose and I couldn’t be more thrilled to perform at Mr. Henry’s in D.C., and if you’re in the area, we would love to see you there!”

Jose echoed those sentiments, saying, “It was a fulfilling experience to be at the Vail Jazz Workshop and work with a marvelous faculty, as well as cultivating special friendships that went above and beyond our time in Colorado. It was one of the most rewarding experiences for me.”

Performances

Isaiah J. Thompson (piano 2014) performs at The Pocket Jazz Club in NYC on July 9, followed by Maverick Concerts in Woodstock, NY, on July 11.

Benny Benack III (trumpet 2008) begins a busy run of performances in NYC at Jazz Cultural on July 9, followed by Masquerade on July 10 and The Craftsman on July 12. He then heads to The London Club in Naples, FL, on July 16, before returning to NYC for a performance at Urbana Midtown on July 19.

Morgan Guerin (saxophone 2014) takes the stage at Bar Bayeux in Brooklyn, NY, on July 15.

Bryan Carter (drums 2007) performs at Classical Tahoe in Incline Village, NV, on July 16.

Aaron Shaw (saxophone 2013) plays at Townhouse Venice in Venice, CA, on July 17.

Keyon Harrold (trumpet 1997) joins the lineup at Music at the Intersection in the Grand Center Arts District in St. Louis, MO, July 17–19.

Lakecia Benjamin (saxophone 1999) performs at the Greater Hartford Jazz Festival at Bushnell Park in Hartford, CT, on July 19.
